This Sunday we’ll be talking about sex.
Continuing in our series on Stewardship we’ll talk about how God gives us a good gift in our sexuality and how he calls us to unfold that gift in a healthy way. The key area we’ll focus on in the message is our need as human beings for intimacy – our need for deep, meaningful connection.
I want to be sure to alert parents that while we won’t be discussing the “birds and the bees” and we won’t dwell on specifics, I will mention topics that often hurt intimacy in our relationships (destructive forces we find in our culture and sometimes even in our own lives: pornography, sexually based advertising, sexual experiences, etc.). Recognizing this could be a challenging topic for some of our children we would like to extend our Children’s Worship age range this Sunday through 5th grade. If you are a parent or grandparent of a child 5th grade or younger and you’d be more comfortable having your child attend Children’s Worship this Sunday they are welcome to join our regular classmates.
To help us unpack our need for intimacy we’ll be looking at the biblical passage of 1 Corinthians 6:12-20. I encourage you to read the passage and ask, how are intimacy and sexuality related? I’m looking forward to walking through this together.
A reminder, don’t forget that this week we’re collecting long storage produce (potatoes, squash, apples, carrots, etc.) as we continue to build our Mt. of Mercy.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
Grace and Peace,
